I Heart the 80's

So, I am going to an 80's themed party tonight and I have gone a little overboard in the whole presentation thing. I have been collecting all of the craziest 80's stuff I can find and I am pretty sure I am going to look hot. Obviously I will have to post pictures. What is particularly telling however is that I went out looking for all of this stuff under the guise of finding stuff for this party, but truth be told, I LOVE everything I bought. I guess it is because I was not really into fashion when I was little so I am feeling deprived that I didn't get to have a love affair with this style the first time around. Thank heavens for second chances!

I'm Coming Home!!

I can't wait to get home. I will be leaving in a little over 24 hours and I am counting down the minutes. It is going to be a great trip (except for having to work) and I really need the time at home.

I just have to tell you all a little bit about my friend Lillian. She is my adorable, wonderful friend who just felt inspired last night to drop in on me unannounced, bring me a beautifully wrapped gift full of chocolate and cheese (really, cheese) and spend Valentine's night with me. She and her boyfriend had made plans to celebrate on Friday instead of Thursday and she said that when she realized that she had V-Day night free she wanted to spend it with me. I can't even tell you how much I needed her visit (it has been a REALLY rough week). Every time I am with her I marvel at what an amazing and kind person she is and I am so grateful for her.

Valentine's Party!

So, on Saturday night I had a Valentine's Day PJ Party. It wasn't like a crazy, woo-hoo! party; it was more like my closest girlfriends coming over to have dinner, watch a movie and, of course, eat chocolate. I made homemade Tom Ka Gai (Thai chicken and coconut soup), pot stickers, edamame and for dessert made insane cheesecake creations in dark chocolate cups. Mmmmm...

Anyway, it was a great time and I am glad that the party also had the happy side effect of requiring that I get my house cleaned up.

I was going to take pictures and post them, but alas, I cannot find my camera. I think it is lost in the Bermuda Triangle that is my car. Tricky.

PS - I think I have an exclamation point abuse problem.

Equine Tripping is Bad

Thanks to Kay'ce I have now found my cause in life. I have been searching for so long, but I have finally found the constituency that I feel most needs my help. It is a good thing I went to all of those years of school so that I am adequately equipped to handle my new calling. And it is... stopping the rampantly spreading practice of equine tripping. True story. Lest you doubt that this is a real problem, please read the below text of a bill currently in front of the AZ state legislature to address this horrifying problem sweeping the nation at frenzied speeds.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 13, chapter 29, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 13-2910.09, to read:
START_STATUTE13-2910.09. Equine tripping; classification; definitions
A. A person who knowingly or intentionally trips an equine for entertainment or sport is guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor.
B. A person who is convicted of a first violation of this section:
1. Shall be sentenced to serve not less than forty-eight consecutive hours in jail and is not eligible for probation or suspension of execution of sentence unless the entire sentence is served.
2. Shall pay a fine of not less than one thousand dollars.
C. A person who is convicted of a second violation of this section:
1. Shall be sentenced to serve not less than thirty consecutive days in jail and is not eligible for probation or suspension of execution of sentence unless the entire sentence is served.
2. Shall pay a fine of not less than two thousand dollars.
D. A person who is convicted of a third or subsequent violation of this section:
1. Shall be sentenced to serve not less than ninety consecutive days in jail and is not eligible for probation or suspension of execution of sentence unless the entire sentence is served.
2. Shall pay a fine of not less than two thousand dollars.
E. For the purposes of this section:
1. "Equine" means a horse, pony, mule, donkey or hinny.
2. "Trips" means causing an equine to lose its balance or fall by use of a wire, pole, stick or rope or any other object or by any other means. END_STATUTE

Wow.

Go Jazz! - Part 2

The Jazz Rock!! The game was amazing and we kicked their trash. While I did not get spit on this year (that I know of) I do have to say that Wizards fans talk a lot of smack when they are down ten points. You would think something like that would humble a person, but what can you do with sports fans?

Go Jazz!

So, tonight I am going with some friends to see the Jazz take on the Wizards. I look forward to this game every year because it is the only one the Jazz play in town and let me just say, it is always an experience. Last year I got spit on. Wizards fans are nasty. Anyway, this year I am taking reinforcements - in fact, 20 of them. It is a huge group (although I suspect that there may be a closeted Wizards fan among them) and I am all decked out in my Jazz gear so I am ready to go! Everyone watch for me on TV because we are well decked out with Jazz shirts, pom poms and those blow up bats you bang together (thanks to my friend, Jen Musick) so hopefully we will attract some camera attention. In any event - I can't wait for tonight!
