Little Old Man Egg
Eggs with Legs Party!
Not only is it Cherry Blossom season (my favorite!), but this morning on the metro I was reminded of just how charming the people in this city can be. See, when you ride the metro as often as I do and around the same time each day, you start to recognize the voices of the drivers.
There is the woman who mumbles everything so that no one ever understands what she is saying, the guy that always gets the name of the upcoming stop incorrect and the guy that has somehow confused his job with that of a late-night DJ on an easy listening station (meaning he talks non-stop about things that don't matter and you spend most of the ride wishing he would just shut up). Well, this morning, late-night DJ guy had apparently awakened on the wrong side of the bed as he had this message to impart as we pulled into L'Enfant Plaza: "This is L'Enfant Plaza. L'Enfant Plaza. Transfer point to the green, orange and blue lines. (extreme sarcasm then enters his voice as he continues:) It sure has been a pleasure serving you today and I hope you have a safe and productive day (chortle to himself and then sarcasm magically disappears as he continues:) Seriously folks, this is a job. Don't forget to take all of your items with you as you exit the train."
Nice.

This is a water tower next to a lake in Richmond, VA. I caught it with the last of the day's light and I think it looks really amazing.
This is a shot of the leaf-lined Skyline Drive.
After we went down Skyline we crossed over to Richmond to go to Buz and Ned's BBQ. I had seen Bobby Flay do a BBQ throwdown with this guy and Buz wiped the floor with him. I figure, if you can take down Bobby Flay your food must be worth the trip. And it was.
This is shot from a Skyline Drive Overlook. As you can see, the view is pretty amazing.Posted by Kodiesue at 9:24 AM 1 comments
So, it turns out that I totally rocked at the 80's party (as you can see from the super amazing photos). I had the highest liberty spikes and was the only one rocking the British punk angle. I even made the tank top you see there in that picture.
Syd and Nancy would be proud.
My friend Jared was total 80's exec-style with a three piece suit and a little bag of white powder in his vest pocket. There were lots of side ponytails and crimped hair, but I think I demonstrated a dedication that took it to the next level. Unfortunately, these are all self portraits because when I got to the party my camera's batteries were dead so the only photos of me with other people are on other peoples' cameras and I have not gotten those yet. When I got home I changed the batteries and took these so they are not great shots, but I needed to preserve this moment if for no other reason than it reminds me that I haven't turned into an 80 year old spinster just yet.
